DescriptionWorking with footage of wrestlers and eager audiences - by the ringside and in front of their TV sets - the film examines people's responses to images of violence as entertainment. Questions about the social and sexual role of ritualised male aggression are raised, and connections are drawn between violence, voyeurism and documentary film-making by concentrating on the 'look' of the spectator and using various visual techniques. In so doing WRESTLING emphasises the properties of film and different ways of looking, challenging notions of objectively and encouraging an active critical response from the viewer.
