Annette Kennerley

From the late 80’s through to the late 90’s, East London based filmmaker Annette
Kennerley created a unique and deeply personal body of 16mm films and videos that
explored the dynamics of queer relationships, transgender lives and experiences of
motherhood.
Poetic, joyous, intimate, witty and sexy, her work offers an emotionally frank and at times
melancholic journey into memories of love, lust, power and loss.
Annette was an early enquirer into trans lives and identities. Shooting intimate straight-to-
camera interviews with transgender people, she made several documentaries and co-
directed the International Transgender Film Festival at the Lux Cinema in Hoxton, London
from 1997 to 2000.
Her work has screened at cinemas and film festivals nationally and internationally.
