As part of the Whitechapel’s ongoing Guerrilla Girls exhibition: ‘Is it even worse in Europe?’, Club Des Femmes will be introducing these two films about feminist performance artists.

Guerrillas In Our Midst

Dir. Amy Harrison, USA, 1992, 35 mins

Guerrillas In Our Midst presents a savvy exploration of the machinations of the commercial art-world during its boom in the 1980s, and brings the Guerrilla Girls to the screen.

Eat the Kimono

Dir. Clare Hunt & Kim Longinotto, UK, 1989, 60 mins

Eat the Kimono is a brilliant documentary about Hanavagi Genshu, a Japanese feminist and avant-garde dancer and performer, who has spent her life defying her consersvative culture’s contempt for independence and unconventionality.
