Three women, who although they had not met previously – together murder the owner of a boutique. They do not deny their guilt and are taken into custody. Before the trial a woman psychiatrist is charged by the court to produce a report on the three women. She gradually comes to doubt the label of insanity which has been pinned on the women. As a result of getting to know them she is increasingly confronted by problems their behaviour raises both in her private and professional life. All this comes to a head at the trial.
