Diana
‘Diana’ was produced initially for the Portsmouth Rape Crisis Line for training purposes and to raise questions in the minds of “professional” people who come into contact with women who have been raped or sexually assaulted. The film recounts in depth and with considerable honesty, not so much the details of what happened to Diana but rather the long term effects on her and her relationships.
I wanted the video to speak directly to other survivors of sexual violence, to make it more possible for them to talk about it, and to leave them with a positive message of hope. My intention was to dispel some of the myths that surround the subject - myths that are perpetuated by the media which at best focus attention on the attack itself and sensationalise the hunt of the assailant as if that were the end of the story.
