'Dual Passport' is an exploration of compulsion and ritual in the form of a journey through real space/time and memory. As disturbing thoughts and feelings begin to assail the film's protagonist she seeks refuge from reality by hiding herself in a restaurant. Reading and eating (rituals which have over time assumed the status of Jewish ceremony) she gains a little quiet space, but at what cost? She leaves the sanctuary of the restaurant/ritual and again feels the weight of her body and her pain. The film is an attempt to examine issues of body image and self esteem, statelessness and displacement without resolution. A poetic meditation on compulsion and ritual, body image and self esteem, homelessness and displacement.
