‘Encuentro’ is a documentation of the Third Latin American and Caribbean Feminist meeting which took place in Brazil in 1985, bringing together 900 women from Latin America and many other countries. Opening with a voiced-over mime detailing the isolation of women, the video contextualises the purpose of the event and goes on to support it with the comments of women from all over Latin America.
The tape explores the history of Latin America's women and attempts to show “outsiders” what it is like to be a feminist in Latin America in the 1980s.
