In 'Hjalli' a kindergarten in Hafnarfjördur outside Reykjavik in Iceland, the children are offered the same pedagogy, but with different weighting in the two genders. Educators seek to counteract inequality and injustice, taking into account gender diversity, and with the film a debate is debated on how the day care institution perceives its role in the upbringing of girls and boys. In the film, the children are recorded in everyday life – full of fun and lots of life – followed by an interview with the kindergarten manager.
