Using a combination of archival footage and contemporary interviews, the history of International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on 8th March, is explored in this video. Video Vera, a women’s community video production group based in Leeds, interviewed local women to ask if they had heard of ‘International Women’s Day.’ Most of the interviews had not heard of the day and were unaware of the many events organised to celebrate March 8th. Many of those celebratory events are featured in this lively video.
