I made 'Keeper of Accounts' 20 years ago whilst still a student at the Slade. Today it is a document that conveys its own sense of history. It was the first in a series of pieces exploring expressions of contemporary Jewish identity after the Holocaust and it is also a visual record of Hampstead Heath and the London skyline as it looked in the 1980s. In its own way this piece reflects some of the then prevalent concerns: be they with identity, ethnicity and memory or formally with questions of an expanded cinema.
