Liberty, Equality... Maternity?
Piecing together a different picture of women's history to the one we are familiar with from school, the video traces legal and economic changes affecting women's rights and historical status in an attempt to provide a basis for understanding how women's present identity has come about. ‘Liberty, Equality... Maternity?’ follows the development of the Women's Movement and our increasingly visible resistance and presence as a movement. The tape combines drama and documentary to convey the significance of personal realisation in the face of broader political circumstances, and the relationship between theory and practice.
