‘Nicaragua, Dream of a Free Country’ is a positive and refreshing look at women's participation in Nicaragua's national struggle for self-determination. The film is not about poverty, class, illiteracy and disease but about women's strength and courage. No-one believes that the Sandinista government is perfect but everyone interviewed is committed to the struggle for continued political change – change that includes decision-making by women at every level of their personal and political lives.
