‘Poonam’’s fullness expresses the experiences of three New Zealand women of varying Indian descent, whose family histories date back 100 years. The women explore their heritage growing up in the cross-culture of colonial pacific society. They elaborate upon issues of self-identity.
Footage of both New Zealand and India have been woven in with montage images layered over a soundtrack that contains Indian voice and instrumentals as well as song lyrics which reveal the western gaze. It is a film of rich textures.
