A personal film which attempts to convey the feelings of those women who find themselves in an arranged marriage. Made after the film-maker visited India, ‘The Arranged Marriage’ does not seek to condemn or influence, rather to empathise with the child bride.
The film takes the form of a recurring dream which I had as a child. A figure moves along an endless jetty across an endless troubled sea. The atmosphere of the film is one of both melancholy and inevitability.
