A tongue-in-cheek presentation of the booklet that accompanies newly-marketed, modern cooking appliance: an electric wok. With a stationary camera placed directly in front of the demonstrator who is in a domestic kitchen, this is reminiscent of amateurish local television cooking programmes. Using a few absurd excerpts, the booklet's language of corporate gentility suggests a colonialist tone as it attempts to convince us that we westerners, with our electric wok in hand, can transform ourselves into connoisseurs of exotic foreign cuisine.
