'Traces' is a short digital film that explores the lineage of family resemblance using a computer to animate photographic stills. Moving between past and present family portraits, resemblances and repetitions emerge, revealing a strange sense of destiny as the boundaries of individual appearance merge across age and gender. The ghostlike composites are disturbingly real, like the slightly hazy memories of our dreams. We recognise something in a face and are drawn in to discover it.
